our philosophy

  • We only breed from champion working lines with a proven working track record.  Our sires and dams have been health and DNA tested. and we trace back breedlines 10-15 generations.

  • We encourage you to be scrupulous in choosing where you purchase your Belgian Malinois and to do your due diligence as to what being a reputable and ethical registered breeder means.

  • We support and encourage Dogs Australia/ANKC registration for working line dogs as this association has the highest standards and accountabilities in Australia for breeders to uphold.

As responsible hobby breeders, we choose to breed occasionally and with purpose, focusing on producing exceptional dogs for ourselves and for approved working, sport, and family homes.

our breeding program

do your homework

Working Belgian Malinois are incredible dogs, but they are not for the faint-hearted. They thrive with confident, experienced owners who understand their intelligence, high drive, and need for structured training and meaningful work. We encourage all prospective homes to do plenty of homework—learn about the breed’s temperament, daily requirements, and long-term commitment to training and enrichment. As responsible breeders, we also complete comprehensive health testing on all our dogs, including hip and elbow scores and full breed profile DNA screening inlcuding Variant 2 Trait, to ensure soundness and wellbeing. Our dogs are Variant 2 (A22/A22) clear and currently tested as A10/A10.

understanding A22 allele variation

As responsible breeders, we believe transparency and education are essential—especially with a working breed as powerful and intelligent as the Belgian Malinois. One genetic factor all prospective owners should be aware of is the A22 allele found in the SLC6A3 (Dopamine Transporter) gene. This variant is associated with sudden, uncontrollable aggression, lack of response to stimuli, and sometimes seizures, distinct from normal, situation-based aggression.

what this gene does

The SLC6A3 gene helps regulate dopamine in the brain, which plays a key role in impulse control, focus, and behaviour. Dogs carrying certain versions of the A22 allele may be more prone to behavioural instability.

what the results mean

Genetic testing identifies three broad categories:

  • A0/A0, A0/A10, A10/A10 — No known risk

  • A0/A22 or A10/A22 — Possible increased impulsivity or reactivity

  • A22/A22 — Highest risk of unpredictable behaviour

It is important to remember that genes do not act alone, however they can indicate a genetic disposition and the A22 allele is considered a risk factor. Training, structure, environment, and stress levels all influence behaviour. However it is important to be aware of the risk as management can be difficult.

why testing matters

Reputable breeders test for this variant—along with others such as SDCA1, SDCA2, and epilepsy-related markers—to help ensure puppies are set up for the best possible future. Testing allows us to make informed breeding decisions and to match puppies to homes that suit their needs.

our commitment

We source and use elite working line health-tested international sires through AI and complete full DNA breeding-profile testing on all our females. Our females currently return A10/A10 results, which are not associated with A22-related behavioural risks. Our goal is to raise healthy, well-balanced Malinois for approved working, sport, and active family homes that truly understand and appreciate this remarkable breed.
